Οperational programs for the management of stray animals & prevention of the creation of new stray animals
According to Law 4830/2021 “New Framework for the Welfare of Companion Animals – ‘ARGOS’ Program and Other Provisions”, municipalities are required to have a comprehensive operational program for managing stray animals and preventing the creation of new ones.
This regulatory framework aims at the effective management of stray animals to ensure their welfare and reduce their population through the implementation of adoption programs and the promotion of responsible pet ownership.
In this context, MADE Consultants, having developed a study team comprising veterinarians, economists, communicators, and active volunteers, has undertaken the implementation of operational programs for the welfare, effective management, and prevention of the creation of new stray animals for the municipalities of Minoa Pediada, Gortyna, Viannos and Hersonissos.
The operational programs will include actions for collecting, electronic marking and registration in the National Register of Pet Animals, providing veterinary care, sterilization, finding foster homes, hosting, adoption, and monitoring reintroduced stray animals.
