Technical support to Local Fisheries Action Groups in Cyprus for the submission of Local Development Strategies under the LEADER programme

MADE Consultants undertook the technical support of 2 Local Action Groups and 1 Local Fisheries Action Group for the submission of proposals under the LEADER Programme of Cyprus. Specifically, in cooperation with the Pafos Development Company “Aphrodite” and the Development Company of Larnaca and Famagusta, our company prepared two integrated and fully documented strategic local development plans for the areas of Pafos and Larnaca – Famagusta. The plans were based on a detailed record of the existing situation of the areas, a detailed and fully documented SWOT analysis and bottom-up consultations with local stakeholders.

In addition, our company undertook the support of the Pafos Development Company “Aphrodite” for the preparation of a strategic local development plan in the framework of the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund, Programme for Cyprus of the programming period 2021-2027.

CLLD is an approach that takes time and effort, but for relatively small financial investments, it can have a significant impact on people’s lives by developing new ideas and a shared commitment to implement them for the benefit of their local communities, helping their areas transition to a more sustainable future. It can be a particularly powerful tool, considering that local communities themselves can take steps towards the economic development of their area.
