Mylopotamos is informed and acts on marine litter.
MADE Consultants signed a contract with the Mediterranean Information Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development (MIO-ECSDE) to implement the project Waste ashore! Students together with tourism and leisure professionals get informed and take action about marine litter in Mylopotamos’ shores.” The project is financed by the CLLD Leader of ΑΚΟΜΜ-PSILORITIS DEVELOPMENT AGENCΥ OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT.
As part of the project, our company must organize information/awareness actions with local authorities, the educational community, and tourism professionals of the coastal areas of Mylopotamos regarding the problem of marine litter and, more specifically, single-use plastics. Information and awareness days will be organized and addressed to the local authorities in Crete. In addition, a two-day event will be organized in collaboration with educators and students to raise environmental awareness. Plus, the two-day event will include a beach cleanup. Moreover, responsible coastal tourism businesses will participate in a pilot action, adopting pro-environmental measures and practices to reduce their environmental footprint.
Finally, our company will implement promotional activities, including the project’s final event organization, press releases publication, and work of art construction. The purpose of the promotional activities is the project results dissemination.
The project aims to inform and raise awareness among its target groups on marine litter. More specifically, it seeks to inform target groups about the origin of marine litter, the problems they cause in ecosystems, and the solutions proposed by the global community to deal with and avoid them.
