Cheesemaking in the area of Psiloritis: Current situation – Problems – Prospects.

The preparation of the study entitled “CHEESEMAKING IN THE AREA OF PSILORITIS GEOPARK: EXISTING SITUATION – PROBLEMS – PROSPECTS”, was assigned to MADE Consultants on behalf of ΑΚΟΜΜ-PSILORITIS DEVELOPMENT AGENCΥ OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT.

The purpose of the study is:

• in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis of data concerning the cheese industry in the wider area of the Psiloritis Geopark, including its primary source; livestock farming.
• The recognition of the problems but also of the advantages and opportunities of the production system of sheep and goat breeding and milk processing.
• The submission and documentation of specific proposals for the development of the cheese industry and the livestock farming in general, in sectors included in the RIS3Crete, such as smart agriculture/animal husbandry, extroversion, circular economy, etc.
